Executive Board - Chief Stan Olah
Chief Stanley M. Olah, originally from the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, began his 35 year career in law enforcement as a state trooper in 1974 with the Virginia State Police. He joined the Wintergreen Police Department in 1983 and continued his career ultimately working his way through the ranks of patrol sergeant, lieutenant, captain and then being appointed to the position of Chief of Police in 1990. He presently leads a department with 19 employees.
Chief Olah graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1970 and attended Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs NC. Chief Olah is a graduate of the 59th Virginia State Police Academy and a graduate of the 7th Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond. He has been a member of the Virginia Chiefs Association since 1992 and is presently the treasurer of the Central Shenandoah Chiefs of Police Association . He is also a firearms instructor for both pistol and patrol rifle.
Chief Olah has been involved with the accreditation process since 2000 and is presently an assessor with the Virginia Law Enforcement Accreditation Coalition. He spearheaded the Wintergreen Police Department to obtain accreditation in 2008 as the 66th state accredited department and to become the only private police department to do so.
Chief Olah and his wife, Emmy, reside in Shipman, VA. Together they have 6 children with 16 grandchildren.
