Executive Board - Sheriff Brian Roberts
Sheriff Brian Roberts was born and raised in Dolphin, VA on a family tobacco farm. After graduating from high school, he attended Hargrave Military Academy and then Virginia Tech (VPI). While in college, Roberts majored in Political Science, minored in Sociology, and also played football. In 1997, Roberts secured his first job in public safety as a corrections officer at Brunswick Correctional Center. He started his law enforcement career in 1998 as a Patrol Deputy. His dedication and hard work ethics saw him excel in his law enforcement career. As a patrol deputy, he led the department in drug and DUI arrests. Roberts was promoted to Investigator working most of the violent crimes and a multitude of narcotics investigations in Brunswick County. In 2003, he was promoted to the position of Chief Deputy with the rank of Major. During his tenure Major, he steered the department through successful accreditation in 2006. Roberts was elected as Sheriff of Brunswick County in November 2007 and is currently serving his first term of office.
