Please note that some of the agencies listed below may have been participating in the VLEPSC Program prior to the application date listed. In July 2007, the Commission authorized the replacement of the original Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a new document, the new Agency Participation Agreement. All agencies in the self-assessment phase were required to complete and submit this document in order to continue their participation in this program. Agencies that had a previous MOU on file are noted below along with the date of the original MOU.

In November 2011, the Commission set a forty-eight (48) month time limit on agencies in the self-assessment phase that are seeking accredited status. Agencies that are not assessed by an official VLEPSC assessment by the end of the 48-month period may apply for an extension of twenty-four (24) months. Agencies applying for an extension are required to remit to the Commission an extension fee of $250.00. Agencies under an extension are noted below.

Whenever a new chief or sheriff assumes command of an agency that is in the self-assessment phase, and they want to continue working toward accreditation, they must complete a new Agency Participation Agreement under their name. The Commission does not require an additional fee when there is a change of agency leadership.
