First Annual Book 'Em Event

Description: The Waynesboro Police Department and the Waynesboro Department of Tourism will be the hosts for the First Annual Book 'Em Event on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the Waynesboro Public High School in Waynesboro, Virginia from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

This ground-breaking Book Fair highlighting the connection between illiteracy and high crime rates will feature dozens of authors who will be signing their books and giving talks on writing, the publishing industry, and other topics of interest throughout the day.

In addition to authors who will make a personal appearance, there are dozens more who have donated autographed copies of their books, including New York Times bestselling authors Jeff Shaara (whose book Gods and Generals was made into a movie filmed partially in Augusta County, Virginia), Brad Meltzer, Nora Roberts, David Morrell of Rambo: First Blood fame, and Dave Pelzer. We have even received an autographed book from Jack Miles, winner of a Pulitzer Prize!
