Grant Program Profile
Grant Program Name: Sexual Assault

Source of Funds: There are three funding sources for this grant program. An appropriation from the State General Fund was first awarded by the General Assembly in 1989. Annual appropriations partially fund the Virginia Sexual Assault Hotline and local intervention efforts. Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds have supported services to sexual assault victims since 1984. Federal Preventive Health and Health Services (PHHS) funds provide for the statewide administration and management of local programs and activities that support the work of those programs.

Guidelines & Forms:

Purpose of Funds: The purpose of this grant program is to provide or enhance direct services to victims of sexual assault.

Eligibility Requirements: Local sexual assault programs are eligible to apply for both VOCA and State funds. Statewide organizations are eligible to apply PHHS and State funds.
