There are two funding sources for this grant program. An appropriation from the State General Fund was first awarded by the General Assembly in 1989. Annual appropriations partially fund the Virginia Sexual Assault Hotline and local intervention efforts. Additionally, federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds have supported services to sexual assault victims since 1984.
