Making Every Contact Count promotes high quality service with enhanced citizen satisfaction that furthers agency trust, without compromising employee safety. This course incorporates essential training that enhances productivity and furthers agency trust. At its core are the keys to honing traits and skills found within top officers, detectives, and supervisors—the same traits that promote high levels of “customer satisfaction” in top corporate service organizations. Course objectives and activities are designed to improve the attendees’ ability to interact with others, communicate effectively, and adapt to the varying personalities and interactions encountered during the difficult job of public safety.
This training is being offered to Virginia sworn law enforcement officers, campus police officers and campus security officers.
• Analyze individual communication tendencies
• Identify four personality traits and their influence on our interactions
• Identify what breaks down interpersonal communication
• Review positive and negative service experiences
• Analyze the impact of one’s own attitude, and discuss how to maintain a commitment to positive service interactions
• Debate factors that are degrading public trust; social media, use of force etc.
• View and critique videos to gain insight into the frequent negative perceptions of law enforcement
• Define the three essential elements of high quality customer service
Law enforcement officers will receive 13 PIC hours. Please note: PIC hours are an estimate and may change due to unforeseen circumstances.
There is no fee to attend this training.
Transportation, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the participant.

Training begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m.

Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course.
