Private Security Services provides registration, certification and licensure services for the private security industry. Below is a list of the types of registrations, certifications and licensures provided by Private Security Services as defined by the Code of Virginia. Click on the appropriate title below to learn more about the particular registration, certification or licensure procedures, including information on training requirements and how to apply and renew the registration, certification or license.

Please be aware that businesses, training schools, and individuals must be properly licensed, certified, or registered by DCJS prior to soliciting or engaging in private security services.
