The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to offer a half-day workshop titled “Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (C.R.A.S.E.)"
This course includes the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, medical issues, and drills. The objective of CRASE is to aid and enhance schools, colleges, universities, businesses, and community members for direction if they should be confronted with an active shooter event.
This training is being offered at no cost to college and K-12 administrators and staff, central office personnel, security officers, and law enforcement serving in schools and campuses.
Law enforcement officers and security officers who complete this training are eligible to receive partial in-service credit hours.
There is no fee to attend this workshop and all training materials will be provided for registrants.
Participants are responsible for their transportation, meals, and lodging arrangements and expenses.
Registration begins at 8:00 am.
Training begins and 8:30 am and concludes at 12:00 pm.
Pre-registration is required. Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
