Understanding Mechanical Locks for Crime Prevention Practitioners

Course Description:
This one-day Medeco Door Security Awareness Training course will educate and guide each participant with a working knowledge on basic lock and cylinder construction, master keying strategies, door construction, and hardening techniques to improve access security and perimeter control. Through demonstration, hands-on, and lecture materials provided, participants will learn the various lock-compromising attack strategies such as picking, drilling, bumping, and impressioning. They will also learn what to look for in deadbolt and padlock construction to improve levels of security and what makes residential and commercial safes burglar-resistant.
This class will be instructed by Peter Field, Director of Research at Medeco Security Locks. He has been involved in locksmithing since 1960 and has had over twenty five US Patents issued with others pending pertaining to locks.

We recommend that those taking this class may also benefit from attending the Alarms 101 class and the Understanding Electronic Access Controls for Crime Prevention Practitioners class, which are being held at the same location July 23rd and July 25th respectively. Separate registrations are required.
Partial In-service Credit:
Partial Law Enforcement in-service credit hours and Crime Prevention Specialists credit hours will be awarded upon completion of this course.
