Communication Analysis
 

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is partnering with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to bring the National Drug Intelligence Center’s (NDIC) course on Communication Analysis to the Richmond area. This class is an intense one-day introduction to a communication and analytical tool used by law enforcement to evaluate the credibility of information. It combines effective communication and critical thinking skills. Students will learn how important each and every word is for effective communication and leave with an improved ability to analyze all forms of communication.

Course Objectives

  • Be able to identify sensitive, deceptive and missing information
  • Be able to recognize if the words came from memory
  • Know the four principles of Communication Analysis
  • Recognize evasive verbal responses and techniques used by deceptive subjects
  • Recognize deceptive handwriting indicators
  • Recognize deceptive nonverbal indicators
  • Understand and recognize violence indicators

Detectives, Intelligence Analysts, Patrol officers, Prosecutors, School Resource Officers, School Security Officers, Special Operations Officers and Supervisors, Tactical Officers, Security Managers, Fraud Investigators, Crime Prevention Specialists

More Information

The course is free, lodging and meals are responsibility of the participant. Seating is limited and on a first come first served basis. Due to the popularity of this course, cancellation is required 72 hours before class start time or your department will be charged a cancellation fee.

Attendees will receive 8 hours of partial in-service credit. Participation is required for the entire 8 hours.
