Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Awareness Training for First Responders

Course Description:

This training will provide the participants a comprehensive overview of IEDs. The course will include IED anatomy, types, response guidelines, and history. This six and half hour course is designed for a small audience of first responders and will afford an opportunity for qualified instructors and agency staff to capture student feedback and make modifications to the instructor and student guides as necessary.

Course Objectives –participants will be able to

  • Understanding the history, and designs of IEDs and their potential targets.
  • Define IED.
  • Distinguish major components of an IED.
  • Describe the features of potential targets.
  • Recognize the different varieties of packaged-type IEDs, and secondary devices.

Eligible Participants

Local and State Law Enforcement, Fire Marshall Personnel

Class size is limited.

Course Credit

Students successfully completing the course will receive 6.5 PIC hours

Costs

Tuition and course materials are free. Students are responsible for travel, meals, and lodging.
