- Updated 2004 VA Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act and Selected Victims’ Rights Related Statutes (.xls)
- This is an Excel spreadsheet which is intended to provide easy access to current victims’ rights statutes and recent amendments.
- Web links, showing current (as of 7/1/04) Code of Virginia language, are provided for each section. You can find a particular sub section by scrolling through the section displayed.
- Web links to each bill that amended each listed statute during the 2004 (and 2003) Sessions of the General Assembly are provided. By viewing these amendments you can see precisely “what’s new” about a given statute.
- The "Legislative History" column shows the year in which the statute was enacted and identifies the Chapter numbers and years in which amendments were made through 2003.
- The spreadsheet provides a "sortable" listing of statutes comprising the Crime Victim and Witness Right Act or “Victims’ Bill of Rights” and selected other victims’ rights related statutes.
- The statutes are listed in numerical order. The document is "sortable" from the "data" button on the standard Excel toolbar. So, for example, you could sort the data by section title or by the category of victims’ rights addressed.
This spreadsheet is a work in progress. We hope that you find this format useful and we encourage you to provide comments to improve the content and usefulness of the spreadsheet. After viewing the spreadsheet, please provide any suggestions for improvements by
