What We Do
Victim Assistance Program Development, Management, and Monitoring
- Provide technical assistance to localities in establishing, maintaining, and expanding victim assistance programs
- Provide consultations to grantees for a variety of program issues (e.g. fund development, Board training, case reviews, etc.)
- Administer the state and federal victim/witness grant program
- Administer the V-STOP Violence Against Women grant program
- Administer the sexual assault grant program
- Administer the Virginia Domestic Violence Victim Fund grant program
- Monitor, assess, and disseminate information on victim-related legislation
- Monitor and evaluate grant programs
- Develop and support the Client Information Management System (CIMS), the software that provides local victim/witness program staff with automated client tracking ability and production of the Quarterly Progress Report
Victims Resource Center
The Victims Services Section provides printed resources to criminal justice professionals. Most of our resources are available for download directly from our web site and/or can be ordered from our office. The Crime Victim Assistance INFO-LINE
The Victims Services Section operates the toll-free statewide Virginia Crime Victim Assistance INFO- LINE. To meet the needs of crime victims in Virginia, INFO- LINE staff:
- Provide Information and Referral services to victims
- Inform victims of their rights under Virginia’s Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act; and
- Provide crisis intervention, as needed
