The 2017 Virginia School Safety Survey consists of a standardized, web-based survey for all public K-12 schools in the Commonwealth. This school-level survey can be accessed by school principals on this page.

Important Information for School Principals

  1. Survey password: If you have not already received the survey password, you may obtain it from your division superintendent’s office contact or from the VCSCS Survey Response Team.

  2. Survey access: You can access the survey by clicking on the Access School Survey button below.

  3. Questions: If you have questions about the survey material, review the frequently asked questions and terms and definitions for possible answers.

  4. Print a copy: Upon completion of the survey, print a copy of your survey responses for your records (see survey instructions for directions on how to do this). If you were unable to print a copy of your survey submission, contact your division superintendent. Superintendents will have access to the surveys submitted by their division’s schools and will be able to provide you with a copy of your submission.

  5. Deadline: All schools must complete the survey no later than Friday, September 29, 2017 at 5:00 PM.

Before taking the survey, it is strongly suggested that you:

  • Review and print a copy of the survey instructions. It may be helpful to have them with you while you take the web-based survey.

  • Review the survey questions to make certain you know your responses before entering data online. Some of the questions ask for information that you may need to gather before completing the survey.
