The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, the Department of Corrections, the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of State Police are pleased to announce a three-day Conference on Violent Crime. The 2019 Conference on Violent Crime will focus on topics directly related to trends and strategies used in efforts to reduce violent crime in the Commonwealth.
The conference will feature keynote presentations from both national and international speakers on Homegrown Violent Extremist (HVE) and Domestic Terrorism, Mexican Cartels, Understanding Sexually Deviant Behaviors and an in depth case on a child homicide.

Who Should Attend?
This training is being offered to Virginia sworn law enforcement officers, military and prosecutors who are interested in this specialized information about trends and solutions related to violent crime reduction. The conference has developed into a great educational and networking tool for law enforcement and criminal justice professionals in the Commonwealth.
Partial In-service Credit
Law enforcement officers can receive PIC hours for the training. Final hours will depend on individual daily and session attendance.
Cost
There is no cost to attend this training.
Travel, Lodging and Meals
Lunch will be served to registered participants each of the first 2 days of the conference. Participants are responsible for their transportation, lodging, parking and other meal costs.

Hotel reservation cancellation requests must be received at least 48 hours prior to arrival to avoid being charged one night's room and tax.
Parking
Lodging and daily commuter attendees will receive a discounted self-parking rate of $6 per night/day, per vehicle in the main hotel self-parking lot (with unlimited in/out).
Complimentary WiFi is included for lodgers – the code will be provided at hotel check-in.

There are a limited number of lodging scholarships available.

Applications must be received by May 10, 2019 to be considered. Applicants will be notified of the decision within a week of DCJS’ receipt of the application. If your application is approved, reservations will be made on your behalf. Please do not contact the hotel directly.

Pre-registration is required. Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course.
