Identifying & Responding to Leadership Challenges in Public Safety & PolicingRonnell Higgins, Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety, Yale University and Lee Strubble, President, WSM Trainers and Consultants
This session is an interactive program that will involve participants in a process of identifying some core challenges to public safety leadership. Presenters will include new survey information based on a series of 1-day “Defining & Refining Your Leadership and Supervisory Style” programs throughout the US in late 2018 and 2019. Participants will identify their own personal leadership and supervisory strengths, as well as discover some new specific traits and characteristics of effective public safety leadership in higher education.
Desired outcome is that all participants will be re-energized to return to their respective departments/institutions with new and valuable information on how to be the most effective supervisor and leader. Participants will be engaged in an introspective process that will culminate in a personal CALL TO ACTION to apply some of the lessons learned and available research into effective leadership and supervision within the field of public safety and policing.
The curriculum will include case studies and some small group work.
