The 2022 Virginia School Safety Training Forum will be held in Hampton, Virginia on July 25-28, 2022. The Forum will feature engaging keynote speakers and useful workshops for as many as 1000 participants in the fields of law enforcement, school security, PreK-12 administration and counseling, and others with an interest in school safety.

The theme of the Forum, Prevention Relationships, and Support: Keys to Ensuring Safe Schools, Students, and Staff, highlights the critical importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, particularly as a result of a tumultuous past two years for our students and school communities. Flexibility, understanding, empathy, and partnerships to ensure a safe and supportive school environment have never been more important. During this event participants will have the opportunity to hear from renowned experts on a multitude of topics related to school safety including, but not limited to:

Who should attend?

The Virginia School Safety Training Forum is intended for those with a role directly impacting school safety. The target audience includes K-12 division and school leaders, School counselors and mental health professionals, Division and School Safety Audit Team members, Crisis management team members, Threat assessment team members, K-12 school resource officers and other law enforcement working in or with schools, School security officers, and Juvenile detention center staff and juvenile probation officers. 

Virginia members of the target audience may attend the conference at no cost; others are invited to attend at a cost of $125.  Please see registration information below for additional details.

Pre-Conference Sessions - Monday, July 25, 2022

Full Day Session will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Check in begins at 8:00 am.

Half Day Morning Session will run from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. Check in begins at 8:00 am.

Half Day Afternoon Session will run from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Check in begins at 12:30 pm.

Main Conference - Tuesday, July 26, 2022 to Thursday, July 28, 2022

Check in begins at 7:00 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Forum runs from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Forum runs from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday.

Keynotes will be featured from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Workshops will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.


 

Partial In-Service Credit

Law enforcement and school/campus security officers will receive partial in-service credit hours for this forum.

Participants are responsible for their lodging arrangements and expenses.

The group rate is $96.00 per suite, per night, plus tax for single or double occupancy, and $10 for each additional occupant for reservations made under this block.  Reservations are based on availability at the time of your call, so please do not delay in reserving your room. The cut off date for the group rate is Thursday, June 23, 2022.

Hotel reservations can be made directly with the Embassy Suites by calling 1-800-EMBASSY (24 hours a day).  You may also call (757) 827-8200 and ask for "In-House Reservations" Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm.  The name of our group is the VA SCHOOL SAFETY, and this is the name to use when calling to secure a room in the group block.

Cost

Virginia Members of the Target Audience: There is no cost for Virginia members of the target audience to attend. 

CANCELLATION POLICY: If unable to attend, registrants must cancel no later than July 15, 2022 or be responsible for the $125 registration fee.

Attendees Outside Virginia/Outside the Target Audience: Those outside Virginia and/or outside the target audience are invited to attend the conference at a registration fee of $125 if paid via credit card at the time of registration. A $20 processing fee will apply to payments not made by credit card at the time of registration. Payment must be received prior to conference attendance.

CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds will be given for cancellations made after July 15, 2022. Substitutions will be accepted.

Vendor Cost and Registration

Vendors with school safety related products and services are invited to participate in the conference. The registration fee for VENDORS is $500 per vendor (for up to two (2) representatives) if paid via credit card at the time of registration.  A $20 processing fee will apply to payments not made by credit card at the time of registration. Registration fee includes open skirted table, electricity and Wi-Fi, and lunch at the Convention Center.

2022 Student Ambassadors and SRO Highlight Reel Submissions

Interested individuals are invited to submit videos to be showcased during the 2022 Virginia School Safety Training Forum. Submissions that are selected for inclusion in the Forum will be entered into a drawing to receive one of several $100 gift cards for the represented school.

Student Ambassadors

Students and staff are invited to showcase their efforts at making schools safer by creating and sending in a video of what school safety means to them. Select videos will be shown at the conference and be entered into a drawing to receive a gift card for the represented school. School Resource Officer (SRO) Highlight Reel

The SRO Highlight Reel will feature SROs and their student partners who have done a project, worked on an event, or demonstrated another way of showing the importance of BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS! SROs are invited to submit a video or photos of unique, creative and positive programs and activities in their school communities.
