Source of Funds:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awards State Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) funds to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM). As Virginia’s criminal justice planning agency. The Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), is designated the administering agency for these funds awarded to law enforcement agencies through state and local units of government.

Amount Available:

Maximum award amounts and localities selected to receive funds are stated in the following program briefs.

Funds will be awarded on a reimbursable basis to support fully justified costs necessary for bomb squad equipment and training needs.

Listed below are the documents for the 2008 State Homeland Security Bomb Squad and Training grant that must be completed and returned prior to requesting reimbursement of funds.

Purpose of Funds:

The 2008 state HSGP provides funding assistance to law enforcement agencies to enhance their capacity to detect, deter, disrupt and prevent acts of terrorism. Awards provided are to assist police and fire departments that contain certified Bomb Squad Units.

These funds maybe used to purchase equipment and training to support regional response to multiple simultaneous incidents and improvised devices that contain chemical, biological, and/or radiological components.
