Source of Funds:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awards State Homeland Security Program Grant (SHSP) funds to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM). As Virginia’s criminal justice planning agency. The Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), is designated the administering agency for these funds awarded to law enforcement agencies through local units of government.

Purpose of Funds:

The 2009 state SHSP provides funding assistance to law enforcement agencies to enhance their capacity to detect, deter, disrupt and prevent acts of terrorism.
