Darrell Warren Jr. was born and raised in Williamsburg Virginia and resided there until being hired by the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office as a deputy assigned to Uniform Patrol in September of 1991. In 1995, Warren was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and in 1998, he was promoted to Patrol Lieutenant. Shortly after being promoted to Lieutenant, he transferred to Investigations as the Division Commander. In 2000, Warren was promoted to Law Enforcement Captain and served in that capacity for 10 years. Some of his collateral duties included Tactical Team Commander, Public Information Officer, and Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Services. In 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Chief Deputy and also served as the Accreditation Manager during their assessment process in 2011. Warren was elected to his first term as Gloucester County Sheriff in 2012. He commands an office with over 100 members and provides the primary law enforcement to Gloucester County.

Darrell is a graduate of the 236th Session of the F. B. I. National Academy, the Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond, and he holds a degree in Administration of Justice. Darrell serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Gloucester, and is a member of the Gloucester Ruritan Club and Union Baptist Church.
