The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Interactive Scenario for Victim-Centered Justice
Support Sexual Assault Victims through victim-centered care and justice. Sharpen your investigation, documentation and prosecution skills and learn best practices for Sexual Assault Response Team collaboration.
SART members will learn how law enforcement, victim advocates, prosecutors and medical personnel can provide victim-centered services to victims of sexual assault. Participants will work as simulated SARTs to make tough decisions from medical and crime scene evidence collection through the trial. Trainers will take participants through realistic simulations and facilitated discussions. SARTs will use the evidence collected to help work their way through the maze of the sexual assault investigation.

This training is for professionals who serve on SARTs, including victim advocates, law enforcement, medical personnel, prosecutors, and campus personnel who respond to sexual assault victims.

Partial In-service CreditPartial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be available.
All participants will receive a certificate of attendance after completing an online evaluation following the training.
There is no registration fee for this training.
Lunch will be included.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation and lodging arrangements and expenses.
Lodging Information: Lodging at the Hampton Inn and Suites, Fredericksburg South is available to training participants at the per diem rate of $94 (not including tax) per night. To make reservations call (540) 898-5000 and mention the “SART Interactive Scenario Training” in order to receive the $94 rate. The cut-off date for reservations is Monday, May 13. After this date rooms at the $94 rate are not guaranteed to be available.

Participants must attend both days of the training.
Pre-registration is required. Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. The DCJS assigned course director will review the roster and can cancel any ineligible registrants. Any registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
