Description of Training: This two-day training is designed to give participants a systematic overview of the three phases of developing an equity framework (readiness, implementation, and sustainability). The training will also cover examples of racial equity tools that examine policy, standards and legislation. By offering this training to the juvenile justice practitioners and juvenile justice-servicing agencies, participants will learn tools and activities that can provide additional support in reducing racial and ethnic disparities.
This training will be presented by Ms. Lisa M. Garry. Ms. Garry serves as Chief Strategist of Equity in Practice, LLC (EIP), a consulting group that focuses on eradicating the disparate treatment and marginalized opportunities of youth of color in the juvenile justice, child welfare, education, and mental health public systems. Lisa also serves as the Director of the Office of Equity and Reform in the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS).
