In order to continue to progress and expand the knowledge of behavioral threat assessment teams, the DCJS Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety is pleased to announce a new threat assessment training that addresses concerns in the virtual campus setting.
Professionals from Virginia colleges and universities have been actively engaged in threat assessment and management programs since 2008, when the Virginia General Assembly enacted legislation requiring all public institutions of higher education to implement and operate threat assessment teams. Since then, the Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety has provided several training sessions to support campus threat assessment teams. As threat assessment teams are now having to operate in the virtual setting, this training will provide information and insight to address concerns for teams operating in these unprecedented times.
This is a 75-minute virtual training and topics to be covered include:
Role and Structure of Threat Assessment Teams in the Virtual Campus Setting
The Threat Landscape in the Virtual Campus Setting
Operation of Threat Assessment Teams in the Virtual Campus Setting
Sustaining Effectiveness of Threat Assessment Teams in the Virtual Campus Setting
The webinar is appropriate for campus threat assessment team members including campus and university law enforcement officers, municipal officers working with campuses, security personnel, civilian team members, and staff from regional community mental health that may be involved in campus threat management efforts.
Partial in-service credit for law enforcement and school/campus security officers is not available for this webinar due to the duration of the training.
There is no cost to the participant to attend this course. Pre-registration is required. The webinar will be held in Zoom. Upon registering, you will receive a confirmation email with the information you will need to join the webinar.
