Session Description
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) has adopted Standard Response Protocol (SRP) as a best practice. The Standard Response Protocol was developed by the “I Love U Guys” Foundation as a research-based best practice to respond to critical incidents. The voluntary statewide adoption of SRP is intended to provide schools with consistent and easily understood language to notify all members of the school community when a specific response to an event needs to occur. The SRP may be used to complement existing crisis plans. It is action based, and allows organizations, first responders, students, and parents to share a specific vocabulary for quick and coordinated action. It also acts as a tool for training which develops the muscle memory necessary to respond appropriately in moments of crisis.
