This training course will provide crime prevention practitioners essential information and the latest trends about locking technology, intrusion detections systems, CCTV security and lighting, taught by security industry representatives. Instruction will also be provided on trends in other crime prevention topics such as school safety, landscaping, workplace safety (OSHA), HEAT (auto theft), Fusion Center resources and using the internet to promote crime prevention. This course provides an excellent opportunity to receive training credit for Crime Prevention Specialist certification or re-certification.
This training is designed for local law enforcement, campus law enforcement, local city and private planners, government officials, business leaders, community activists, crime prevention practitioners, and leaders looking for innovative ways to prevent crime in their communities.
This course is restricted to individuals working in local, state and federal law enforcement or government, including k-12, colleges and universities, sworn or civilian.
Law enforcement officers will receive 36 to 38 PIC hours. Please note: PIC hours are an estimate and may change due to unforeseen circumstances. This course also qualifies for 36 to 38 hours of training credit for Crime Prevention Specialist certification and re-certification.
There is no fee to attend this training.

Pre-registration is required. Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course.
