The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, in collaboration with the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), the Department of Homeland Security and the Virginia Fusion Center, is pleased to announce a one day training opportunity – Homegrown Violent Extremism and Terrorism Threat Overview. The training will focus on relevant topics directly related to trends and strategies used in efforts to reduce the impact of homegrown violent extremism and terrorism in the Commonwealth.
This training is being offered to Virginia sworn law enforcement officers, campus police, and appropriate military personnel who are interested in this specialized information about trends and solutions related to homegrown violent extremism and terrorism incidents reduction.
Law enforcement officers can receive PIC hours for the training. Final hours will depend on individual attendance.
There is no cost to attend this training.
Participants are responsible for their transportation, lodging, and meal costs.
Check in begins at 7:45am.
Training begins at 8:30am and concludes at 4:30pm
Registration
Pre-registration is required. Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
