The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety, in conjunction with Safer Schools Together, is pleased to announce the following special training opportunity to help behavioral threat assessment team members and other school and college campus safety personnel better recognize and respond to today’s challenges from worrisome digital content contained on varied social media platforms.
The date and time for the training is as follows:
November 30, 2023 – 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m
SPECIAL SESSION OF CURRENT ONLINE BEHAVIORAL TRENDS AND UPDATES - SWATTING AND DOXING
SST will provide an overview of swatting and doxing as well as the importance of ensuring your digital privacy. Additionally, they will provide insight on how to protect yourself against exposing personal information when navigating popular social media platforms. With proper knowledge and prevention strategies, individuals can reduce the potential risk of becoming a target of swatting and doxing.
This training is being offered to behavioral threat assessment team members at the school, division, and college campus level. This includes School Resource Officers, Law Enforcement Officers and School and Campus Security Officers. Other members of the school community such as school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and school nurses may also benefit from this training.
There is NO PIC being offered for this training.
There is no cost to the participant to attend this course.
The training will be hosted via Zoom
Participants will receive the Zoom meeting link prior to the training
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
