Mr. Tracy Matthews is the Law Enforcement Training Coordinator, with the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), Division of Law Enforcement.  He original joined DCJS as a Law Enforcement Grant Programs Specialist in August 2017.  He has over 21 years of experience in the Juvenile Justice system. Prior to DCJS, he was employed as the Community Programs Administrator for the City of Newport News Department of Juvenile Services. There, his responsibilities included management and oversight of the locality’s alternatives to secure detention and grant-funded programs for court-involved youth. Prior to the City of Newport News, he was employed with the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), at the Newport News Juvenile Court Services Unit. He has also served as the Youth Services Coordinator, for the City of Williamsburg and Office on Youth Director for Isle of Wight County. He began his professional career working as a Detention Specialist at the Newport News Detention Center. Tracy earned his BA degree in Sociology/Criminology from Hampton University, in Hampton, Virginia. He earned his MA degree in Public Administration/Justice Administration from Troy University.
