Description

Title IX is a federal civil rights law in the United States that was passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives federal money.

While Title IX has been a focus for institutions of higher education for some time, K-12 public schools are now requiring more training to understand and comply with Title IX requirements.

This training will cover a brief background of Title IX and its relationship to K-12 public schools. It will also provide guidance on how schools can comply with TItle IX and the implications for non-compliance. There will also be multiple case studies provided to help schools understand how to avoid compliance issues with Title IX and help ensure schools are properly implementing all facets of Title IX.

The topics will include:

  • Statistics and Update on Cases involving Title IX
  • Standard for Legal Liability under Title IX
  • Title IX Process
  • Recognizing Red Flags
  • Case Law Scenarios

Who should attend?

This training is being offered to school administrators, school counselors, certified law enforcement, division level administrators and personnel, and other school personnel that could be involved in the Title IX process in K-12 public schools.
