Course Description:

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Struggle Well™ – First Responder Wellness” training presented by the Boulder Crest Foundation. Support for this training is provided by the Byrne/Justice Assistance Grant Training Program.

Struggle Well™ Trainings are peer-based training programs, crafted exclusively for first responders as an immersive program that speaks to the unique challenges, skills and abilities of the profession. Leveraging a variety of educational and experiential activities, the course offers life skills, increasing community integration and involvement, and promoting optimal physical, emotional, relational, financial, and spiritual health. 

Struggle Well™ Trainings are based around the proven framework of Posttraumatic Growth, which features five phases, built on an environment of trust and connection. The objective of Struggle Well™ training is to enable students to prepare, practice, and implement an individualized plan for personal growth by transforming struggle into strength, enabling them to be of continued service to themselves, their family, their department/agency/unit, and community, 

Struggle Well™ does not use licensed healthcare professionals in the delivery of programs or supervision of staff. Struggle Well™ does not include individual, group, or family counseling, or psychotherapy, pharmacological management, or medical interventions.

Who Should Attend:

This training is available to all first responders in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Partial In-service Credit:

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be available.

Cost:

There is no fee to attend this training.

Travel, Lodging, and Meals:

Transportation, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the participant.

Training Time and Details:

Sign in begins at 7:30 a.m.

Training begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at or around 4:00 p.m.
