The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety, in conjunction with Safer Schools Together, is pleased to announce the following training opportunity to help behavioral threat assessment team members better recognize and respond to today’s challenges from worrisome digital content contained on varied social media platforms.
Full-day training session Digital Threat Assessment® (DTA) teaches participants to establish a Digital Behavioral Baseline through a School Safety / Threat Assessment (SS/TA) lens. By engaging with popular social media applications, you will learn how to find and document worrisome digital content originating from your school community. This training solidifies your understanding of how to effectively use DTA as a critical part of any modern-day Threat Assessment. You will learn how to find individuals who are the subject of your threat assessment and document your research findings.

Who should attend?
This training is being offered to behavioral threat assessment team members at the school, division, and college campus level. This includes School Resource Officers, Law Enforcement Officers and School and Campus Security Officers. Other members of the school community such as school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and school nurses may also benefit from this training.
Partial In-Service Credit
Partial in-service credit is not available for virtual trainings.
Cost
There is no cost to the participant to attend this course.
Registration and Training Details
- The training will be offered virtually, and attendance is limited to 100 attendees.
- The training will be hosted via Zoom.
- Participants will receive the Zoom meeting link prior to the training.
- Registrants should have previously attended the Fundamentals of Digital Threat Assessment Training.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
