Virtual K-12 Title IX Coordinator Level One: Foundations Training Course

Description

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to partner with ATIXA, to offer an opportunity to attend a one-day training titled K-12 Title IX Coordinator Level One: Foundations Training and Certification Course. K-12 Title IX Coordinator Level One: Foundations is the first training in a series for K-12 administrators responsible for Title IX compliance and will provide a strong core foundation to understand their school’s obligations under Title IX and to promote gender equity in school settings. This training meets the minimum required training mandates under the Title IX regulations for participants, whether you are a full-time Title IX Coordinator or have Title IX responsibilities on top of other duties.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify and adhere to compliance requirements and best practices from foundational case law and federal regulations

  • Evaluate a report or formal complaint to determine if Title IX applies

  • Assess whether their current Title IX Team structure and composition meets compliance requirements and best practices

  • Define the concepts of neutrality, conflict of interest, and objectivity as they relate to Title IX compliance

  • Describe how the Investigator and Title IX Coordinator roles work together during the investigation process

The training agenda will include the following:

  • Title IX Overview

  • Significant Cases

  • The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) and Title IX

  • Due Process

  • When Does Title IX Apply?

  • Title IX Team Roles and Responsibilities

  • Overview of the Investigation and Grievance Process Model

Who Should Attend?

This training is being offered to individuals who are currently serving as a K-12 public school Title IX coordinator at the school or district level, or whose duties otherwise are assisting in the Title IX process in their school or district.

Partial In-service Credit

There are NO partial in-service credit hours offered for this training.

Training Details

  • The training will be hosted via Zoom

  • Participants will receive the Zoom meeting link prior to the training

  • Training begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m.

Cost and Registration

There is no registration fee to attend this training. Pre-registration is required. 

Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. Please use a valid work email address (not personal email address) to register. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
