The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce Medical Emergencies on School Grounds. This is a virtual course on planning for and responding to medical emergencies on school grounds. Data shows that acute medical emergencies are one of the main reasons schools activate their crisis management plans and should be prioritized accordingly using an all-hazards approach to school safety. This course will focus on the before, during and after phases of a medical emergencies and offer best practices related to each phase.
This training is open to all school division emergency managers, school administrators, and staff across the Commonwealth who are responsible for planning/preparing for crisis management, and first responders.
Partial In-service Credit for law enforcement is not available for virtual trainings.
There is no fee to attend this webinar. Pre-registration is required.

Navigate to the Left side of the home screen and click on "My Training" (any trainings you have registered for will appear here)
Click on “Medical Emergencies on School Grounds”
15 minutes before the training is scheduled to begin the blue "Add to Calendar" button will change to "Attend the Meeting"
Click "Attend the Meeting" to join the Zoom session! Note: Please enter your full name or Benchmark username when joining the Zoom call so proper attendance records can be maintained.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS-assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
