Description
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce, “Fundamentals of Executive Protection Certificate Course."
This class is a great introduction into Executive Protection for active/retired law enforcement, public safety and private security operators looking to get into the protection field professionally/personally. This course will provide a certificate of completion from the Executive Protection Institute (EPI), a worldwide recognized organization and pioneer in the Executive Protection Industry.
This overview program is designed to equip both seasoned professionals and newcomers to the field with the practical knowledge and expertise needed to navigate the complexities of VIP security in various environments.

- The EPI Method of Protection
- Security Concepts
- Risk Management
- Teamwork/Ethics
- Dealing with the Media/Tourists/Fans/Paparazzi
- Special Events and Event Security
- Route Analysis
- Surveillance Detection
- Adversary’s Perspective and Behavior
- Tactical Communication for the Security Professional
Who should attend?
This training is open to all Virginia sworn law enforcement officers.
Partial In-service Credit:
Partial In-service Credit for law enforcement officers is available.
Training Time:
Registration begins at 7:30 am
Training begins at 8:00 am and concludes at 5:00 pm
Travel, Lodging, and Meals:
Participants are responsible for their transportation, meals, and lodging arrangements and related expenses.
Cost and Registration:
There is no registration fee to attend this training.
Pre-registration is required.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
