The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, in partnership with the Bon Secours Violence Response Team and the Commonwealth’s Attorneys’ Services Council, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for Forensic Nurse Examiner Expert Testimony Training.

This training will help demystify the expert testimony process and will teach Forensic Nurse Examiners and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners how to prepare and deliver effective, evidence-based testimony in sexual and domestic violence cases. This two-day training will cover:

- Fundamentals of testimony
- How to prepare a curriculum vitae
- Pretrial preparation
- Testimony for defense and prosecution
- What the limitations are to being an expert
- Guidance on applying research to testimony
- Practice on providing expert testimony

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day (check-in starts at 8:30 a.m.)

Who should attend?
Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNE) and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) who work with adult victims of sexual violence and domestic violence. Please note that space is limited to 30 participants; therefore, if you do not work in these disciplines, your registration will be cancelled.

Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants, so everyone who registers will receive confirmation. The DCJS assigned course director will review the roster and will cancel any ineligible registrants. Any registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided in the registration system.

Participant Registration and Cost:
Preregistration is required. There is no cost to register. Participants are responsible for their transportation and lodging costs.

Meals & Accommodations:
Lunch will be provided both days.
Accommodations are available at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Richmond at the state rate. Participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations.

Cancellation Policy: Registrants will receive an email notification if this training is cancelled.
