The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), in partnership with the Department of State Police, the Department of Corrections, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, is pleased to announce the 2026 Conference on Violent Crime.
Description:
This two-and-a-half-day event will be held in Norfolk, Virginia, June 2 - 4, 2026. The conference will focus on topics directly related to trends and strategies used in efforts to reduce violent crime in the Commonwealth. This year’s conference will feature a combination of keynote and workshop presentations from local and national speakers on a variety of topics, including an examination of violent crime incidents and trends, targeted violence, community threat assessment, community engagement, prevention strategies, and additional topics to be announced soon. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and collaborate with criminal justice professionals from Virginia and from around the country.
Who Should Attend:
This training is intended for Virginia law enforcement officers, campus and school security officers, the military, prosecutors, and other criminal justice professionals interested in specialized information on trends and solutions for violent crime reduction. The conference has become a valuable educational and networking resource for law enforcement and criminal justice professionals in the Commonwealth.
Partial In-service Credit:
Law enforcement officers can receive PIC hours for the conference training. Final hours will depend on individual daily and session attendance.
Travel and Meals:
Lunch will be served to registered participants on each of the first 2 days of the conference. Participants are responsible for their transportation, parking, and other meal costs.
Lodging:
Unless a lodging scholarship is requested and approved, participants are responsible for their lodging arrangements and expenses.

Scholarships:
There is a limited number of registration and lodging scholarships available. Please click here to complete the scholarship application if you are interested in this opportunity. Applicants who are awarded scholarships will be notified via email, and reservations will be made on your behalf. Please do not contact the hotel directly.

The conference begins at 8:30 am and concludes at 4:30 pm on June 2-3, 2026.

Cost and Registration:
The registration fee is $75.00 per participant if paid via credit card at the time of registration. A $20 processing fee will apply to payments not made by credit card at the time of registration. Payment must be received prior to conference attendance.

CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds will be given for cancellations made after May 15, 2026. Substitutions will be accepted. The cancellation form can be accessed here.
Vendor Registration and Cost:
A limited number of vendors with related products and services are invited to participate in the conference. The registration fee for VENDORS is $350 per vendor (for up to two (2) representatives) if paid via credit card at the time of registration. A $20 processing fee will apply to payments not made by credit card at the time of registration. Registration fee includes an open skirted table, electricity, Wi-Fi, and lunch.
