Description:

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce that it will host the “Campus Safety Training - Human Trafficking Awareness." This training is intended to increase awareness and understanding of human trafficking in Virginia and dispel common myths and misconceptions. Participants will learn to recognize common indicators of human trafficking, enhance victim identification, and strengthen collaborative efforts to improve investigations and prosecutions across the Commonwealth.

Course Objectives:

1.) Identify indicators for human trafficking.

2.) Understand how an Enhanced Collaboration Model (ECM) task force operates, including victim services, identification, and prosecution.

3.) Apply trafficking indicators to support proactive investigations and case screenings.

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for campus police and security personnel, school resource officers, school security officers, municipal law enforcement with a connection to institutions of higher education, student conduct professionals, Title IX coordinators and investigators, counseling, mental health professionals, victim advocates, residence life staff, and other interested campus or community personnel.

Partial In-service Credit (PIC):

Partial In-service Credit for law enforcement is pending.

Travel, Lodging, and Meals:

Participants are responsible for their transportation, meals, lodging arrangements, and related expenses.

Training Details:

Registration begins at 8:30 am

Training begins at 9:00 am and concludes at 4:00 pm each day.

Cost and Registration:

There is no registration fee to attend this training; however, pre-registration is required.

Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS-assigned course coordinator to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Denied registrants will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
