Course Description
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, in partnership with the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (W/B HIDTA), is pleased to announce a three (3) day course, on Advanced Deception Detection. This class will help criminal justice officers recognize behavioral tells and body language associated with deception in a variety of applications. The topics include body language, communication mindsets, cognitive limitations, psychological aspects of deception, verbal analysis and questioning techniques. This class will also focus on documenting observations in reports.
Who Should Attend?
The target audience for this class is patrol officers, investigators, school resource officers, correctional officers, agency trainers and background investigators.
Partial In-service Credit
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be available.
Travel, Lodging, and Meals
Transportation, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the participant.
Training Time and Details
Sign in begins at 7:30 a.m.
Training begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m.

There is no fee to attend this training.

- Select the course you want to register for
- There may be multiple events scheduled with the same name.
- Be sure to select the event using the date to indicate the proper event.
- Fill in the HOTT Online Application
- Select Complete Registration
