The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services in partnership with The Humane Society of the United States is pleased to announce this virtual training titled, “Community Engagement and De-escalation”.
Animal service professionals and Law Enforcement Officers are often the first to arrive at emergencies and have regular contact with the public. De-escalation is not a new concept in policing, but a movement towards proactive community engagement has revealed important lessons for enhancing interactions with our constituencies. Practicing de-escalation is not only a powerful tactic tool, but importantly, it is an investment in the communities we serve.
