ALERRT FRM - First Responder Medical

Description

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce the First Responder Medical Course. This course focuses on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) for patrol officers that includes an overview of topics addressing Bleeding, Airway management, Tension Pneumothorax mitigation, and Hypothermia protocols (BATH).  Methods of treatment cover: direct threat care, direct pressure application, tourniquet application, wound packing, patient assessment, indirect threat care, airway management, bandaging, prolonged patient management, lifts/drags/carries for casualty evacuation, as well as a tactical overview of techniques and best practices based upon national standards.  All subjects covered include hands on practical application and culminates with reality-based force on force scenario training.

Course Time and Details

16 hours/2 days

Registration begins at 7:30 am. Course will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Prerequisite

Participants must be state certified law enforcement, fire or EMS providers. EMS providers should be state or national registry EMT-B certified (NREMT-Intermediate or NREMT-Paramedic is highly preferred).

Credentials will be required for admittance.

Required Equipment

Good attitude, open mind, pen and paper, duty gear or training uniform

Partial In-Service Credit

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) will be available for law enforcement officers.
