Description
Handle With Care is a program that originated in West Virginia in 2013 to target the lasting impacts that being on the scene of law enforcement and/or emergency services activity can have on youth. The program aims to alert schools to be prepared to provide services for students who may be in need. This session will provide an overview of direct and community trauma, along with a brief overview of the Handle With Care System.
Intended Audience
This training is intended for K-12 school staff, school resource officers and other law enforcement, first responders, school security personnel, prevention providers, school administration, treatment professionals, counselors, student conduct professionals, and other interested school or community personnel.
Partial In-service Credit
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for law enforcement and school security officers will be available.
Cost and Registration
There is no fee to attend this webinar. Pre-registration is required. The webinar will be hosted via Zoom.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
