Identification and Suppression of Tren de Aragua

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), in partnership with the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA), is pleased to announce “Identification and Suppression of Tren de Aragua” training. 

Course Description:

In just three years, there has been an insidious nationwide proliferation of an extremely violent gang from Venezuela, that has been facilitated by mass illegal border crossings. Tren de Aragua has been compared to MS-13, but there are distinct differences that have snuck up on law enforcement. This course covers the founding, growth, structure, identification, and suppression of this burgeoning public safety crisis.

  • Operational model
  • Gang structure
  • Tattoos/identifiers and meanings
  • Proliferation/regional Impact
  • Rivals/allies in U.S.
  • Community infiltration identification       
  • Community case studies
  • Intel sharing

Who should attend:

This training is open to sworn law enforcement and law enforcement analysts. 

Partial In-service Credit:

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers is available for this course.  

Cost and Registration:

There is no cost to attend this training, however pre-registration is required.

Participants are responsible for their transportation and lodging arrangements and expenses.

Training Time and Details:

  • Check in will begin at 7:45 am

  • Course will be held from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
