The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Interviews, Interrogations, and Street Encounters” training, presented by JP Nixon Consulting.
Course Description
Police and civilian interactions occur in a variety of situations. This course is designed to equip law enforcement officers with the essential tools to legally obtain information from individuals, regardless of the context or reason for the encounter. Focusing on both criminal procedure, Miranda rights, and interview and interrogation strategies, this course prepares officers for the practical aspects of conducting interviews and interrogations in both investigative and street-level policing.

Who Should Attend?
This training is available to sworn law enforcement officers in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Partial In-service Credit
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be available. (4 hours legal, 3 hours career development)
Travel, Lodging, and Meals
Transportation, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the participant.
Training Time and Details
Sign in begins at 7:30 a.m.
Training begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m.
Cost and Registration
There is no cost to the participant to attend this training. Course materials will be provided via an electronic link emailed prior to the training. Pre-registration is required.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
