Description
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce: “Introduction to Hate Crimes.” This workshop is presented in cooperation with and led by training staff from the Anti-Defamation League.
This workshop introduces a series of tools and practices to enhance law enforcement’s capacity to prevent and respond to hate crimes. Participants learn to identify key elements of bias-motivated crimes, strengthen their understanding of the legal framework (customized to the specific jurisdiction), enhance skills related to investigation and documentation of bias-motivated crimes and deepen their appreciation for the importance of preventing and addressing bias-motivated crimes. Introduction to Hate Crimes is an interactive, discussion-based program incorporating scenario work appropriate for all law enforcement audiences.
Who Should Attend?
This training is open to sworn law enforcement only.
Partial In-Service Credit
There is no PIC offered for virtual trainings.
Cost
There is no registration fee for this course.

Pre-registration is required. There is no cost to attend this training.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
