Description:

This training builds upon the “K-12 Basic Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Training” provided by the Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety (VCSCS). This training will incorporate an understanding of the Case Management process, beginning with identifying the individual needs of the subject of concern based on threat levels (Low, Moderate, High, and Critical). The four components of the STEP (Subject, Target, Environment, Precipitating Events) Framework will be re-examined to guide participants in developing a holistic management plan.
The training session will provide critical insights into the types of interventions that should be considered for each threat level and guide participants through a resource mapping exercise to identify and analyze the programs, people, services, and other resources currently available in their school/division/community, enabling them to manage these cases effectively. The training will also cover strategies for monitoring the initial case management plan, timelines for review, and potential revisions as needed. A critical component of this training will include the opportunity to work through a scenario to apply their newly acquired case management development knowledge.
