Description: 

To provide ongoing assistance and resources to threat assessment teams, the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to provide the following opportunities for K-12 threat assessment teams to access more training. DCJS is offering a Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Program. 

Who Can Apply: 

This training is intended for K-12 school division personnel, campus administration, and law enforcement officers.  

Application Process: 

To be considered for the TTT Program, you must submit a completed application, meet all prerequisite requirements outlined in the application, and obtain a signature of approval from your division superintendent (or the superintendent’s designee) as part of the application process.

The Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety (VCSCS) staff will review all applications for approval to attend a BTAM TTT session. Upon acceptance and completion of the BTAM TTT session, attendees must commit to leading BTAM training for their school/division and attend updated DCJS BTAM training as needed and required (three-year intervals). 

Partial In-Service Credit: 

Partial In-Service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will not be available. 

Travel, Lodging, and Meals: 

Participants are responsible for transportation, meals, lodging arrangements, and related expenses. 

Training Time and Details: 

This two-day training begins at 8:00 am and concludes at 4:30 pm each day, Tuesday 6/23 and Wednesday 6/24.

Cost and Registration: 

There is no cost to attend this training; however, pre-registration is required. 

The DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive an email confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS-assigned course coordinator to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Denied registrants will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
