New Trends in Mexican Fentanyl

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), in partnership with the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) is pleased to announce “New Trends in Mexican Fentanyl” training. 

Course Description:

There are now more than 200 recognized drug trafficking organizations (DTO) operating in Mexico. This class will discuss the fragmentation and animosity among these groups and the increase in violence it has created. Additionally, the training will examine the relationship between the Mexican DTOs and China in the production of fentanyl. The class will also cover the growing addiction to fentanyl and the emerging market surrounding it. We will discuss the complications of fentanyl overdoses, including treatment and withdrawal challenges, as well as the evolving marketing strategies employed by DTOs to promote fentanyl.

Who should attend:

This training is open to sworn law enforcement and law enforcement analysts. 

Partial In-service Credit:

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers is available for this course.  

Travel, Lodging and Meals:

Participants are responsible for their transportation and lodging arrangements and expenses.

Training Time and Details:

  • Check-in will begin at 7:45 am

  • Course will be held from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Cost and Registration:

There is no cost to attend this training, however, pre-registration is required.
