The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) is pleased to announce the “Physical Security Assessment Training Program”.
Description:
The Physical Security Assessment Training Program (PSATP) is a three-day course that provides attendees with an overview of how to conduct physical security assessments of venues such as Houses of Worship, Schools and other venues of interest. The training includes: an overview of threats that may pertain to these types of venues, a look at the Detect, Delay, and Respond phases of a security program, and how to evaluate the current state of existing physical security measures at a venue. Attendees will conduct an assessment of a venue and prepare examples of Options for Consideration (OFC’s) for identified vulnerabilities.
Who should attend:
You must be employed as a sworn law enforcement officer/agent with arrest authority in the prevention, detection, apprehension, detention and/or investigation of felony and/or misdemeanor violations of federal, state, local, tribal, or military criminal laws; designated Direct Law Enforcement Support Personnel (DLESP) with assigned duties that require knowledge of the subject matter.
Partial In-service Credit:
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers is available for this course.
Cost:
There is no cost to attend this training; however, pre-registration is required.

Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS-assigned course coordinator to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Denied registrants will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
