The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Understanding and Preventing Retail Theft" training.

Description:

This course examines current trends and methods leading to the increase in retail theft, both externally and internally. Through a multimedia presentation and practical exercises, the instructor helps attendees fully understand retail theft and the methods to prevent and detect it. Armed with this knowledge, law enforcement and loss prevention practitioners will be empowered to address specific commonplace crimes with proven techniques. Participants will also be prepared to apply prevention techniques to future trends and to present short topical versions of this training to their associates or business partners.

A visit to a retail environment to identify vulnerabilities and indicators of theft will be conducted as part of this course.
